Positioning + Messaging

for CPG and wellness brands

I help CPG founders get inside their customers’ world, understand where and how they fit it and why the brand matters to them, and prepare the strategy and words to meet them there.

You’ve worked so hard on your product—Let’s make sure people “get” it

It doesn’t matter how good your product tastes, how dialed-in your manufacturing is, how innovative your format is, or how beautiful your packaging is if your potential customers don’t see how your product fits into their lives. That’s where I come in.

Your positioning and messaging are where your product shines. It helps people understand what the product is, why it’s unique, and why they absolutely need it.

This isn’t a theoretical document you’ll pay for and forget. This is the foundation for every aspect of talking about your brand—from pitching retailers to marketing copy, packaging, and beyond.

MY Process

1/ Customer research

We deep dive into who your customers are and their world, using my nearly 15 year background in design thinking. We understand what works, what doesn’t, their demographics, psychographics, and paint a picture from there.

2/Market research

As important as your customers are, so is understanding the market your product lives in. We dive into what’s out there to best understand where your product might live in the space.

3/ Positioning

Armed with the in-depth understanding of your customers and market, plus a deep dive into your product, we define your Unique Product Value. How does this product matter in the market? What role does is serve for your customers?

4/ Messaging

Now we dive into how we talk about all of this! What language we use, the tone of the brand, and the nitty gritty details like taglines, social hooks, product descriptions, your pitch, founder’s bio, brand description, and marketing copy. This is all rooted in the work we’ve completed and tailored to your audience and positioning.

“Sara understands people, sometimes even better than they understand themselves. She has an innate ability to write and ideate from a place of understanding her audience’s motivation. Their desires. And in today’s day and age, perhaps even more importantly, she knows how to speak to audiences with respect. With empathy for where they are, and who they are.”
